I start each day more or less the same way, no matter what. (Yes, I even get up early on my days off!)
- Lie in bed and listen to the headlines on the radio
- Get up, brew coffee, turn on laptop and television news channel
- Open email, Facebook, Twitter, RSS feed page
- Check bank balances! (A DIY girl is also very good at monitoring the dollars and cents)
- Read the headlines
- Relax with coffee and check out all my favorite design and DIY blogs in search of inspiration
So, once a week, I plan to share with you what I’ve found that is cool, neat, different, amazing, provocative or ‘totally do-able’.
This week I’m inspired by my new bedroom colour schemes (they are coming along, I promise!) and the crisp, white frames I picked up last week at the thrift store. I’m dying to try a couple things to bring some new DIY art to both our rooms. For now, here are some excellent posts from fellow bloggers on making your own masterpiece!
This post from Jenn at Tatertots & Jello is one of the most comprehensive “parties” I’ve seen. In an homage to my hometown of Toronto, where I grew up Riding the Rocket, I offer this post on Subway Art. (Which btw doesn’t always have to be about subways!)
In her second appearance on my Kitchen Table Round-up, Erin from 110+2 does a great work-around to create chunky canvass artwork. I think she and I share more than just a name in common! We clearly both like to save some money without compromising the overall outcome.
Because we all have too many paint swatches, Elsie and Emma at A Beautiful Mess come up with a mod way to use all those home improvement store cast-off paint chips to create an eye catching decorative piece.
And lastly, because I’m a huge sucker for upcycling and I’ve always been fond of paper towel roll crafts, Alicia at Thrifty and Chic reinvigorates a window nook with some cardboard pieces, paint and a lot of imagination.
Have a great week! Go forth with your DIYpassion!
Erin
xoxo
